About Gary Boucher

General Manager

Gary grew up in Springhill and attended Springhill High School.  He attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches where he obtained both BS and MS degrees in Electronic Engineering Technology.  In 1976 he moved to Houston and started Microtex, Inc. a microcomputer company that specialized in both software and hardware systems using early microcomputers.  Returning to Springhill to take over the family clothing business in 1980, he also did computer consulting as a sideline business.  In 1984 he was asked to fill in for a vacant faculty position at Northwestern State University on a temporary basis, but stayed for two years leaving with the title of Assistant Professor of Industrial Technology.  In 1987 he starting teaching computer science, physics, and electronics at LSUS in Shreveport.  In 1995 he obtained a second MS degree from La Tech in Electrical Engineering, and in 1999 a Doctor of Engineering degree from the same university.  Gary taught at LSUS until he retired in 2015, or perhaps we should say "Thought" he retired.  Gary was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus upon retirement, which is an honor given to a small number of retiring full professors.  Every fall and spring semester since, he has taught physics at LSUS or SAU in Magnolia as an adjunct professor.  In May of 2017 he was asked by his cousins Sherry and Savannah Boucher to take the general manager position at the hardware store.  Gary has built a working one-man submarine, and also has flown airshow performances for many years.  We suggest you check out Gary's website at www.gary-boucher.com
